A GROUP of 51 pupils from the borough of Stockton are being taken on a trip to Hollywood Bowl at Teesside Park, Thornaby, as a reward for their school attendance record.

The centre is one of the sponsors of the Stars (Schools Tackling Absence and Rewarding Success) scheme. Supported by Stockton Borough Council's education social work service, it aims to improve school attendance by rewarding children who achieve 100 per cent attendance, improve their attendance or attend school against the odds.

NEW HOUSES: Plans to build houses on a former college site look likely to be approved when councillors meet on Friday. Persimmon Homes has applied to Stockton Borough Council for permission to build 48 houses on land belonging to the former Stockton and Billingham College, in Oxbridge Avenue, Stockton. The plans have been recommended for approval.

CHARITY HELP: Charity concerts performed by Marske Fishermen's Choir have raised £562 for the Lions International group, Yarm, and £215 for the Whitby Jets Marching Band.
