A CHARITY auction will help boost the coffers of St Cuthbert's Hospice in Durham. The auction will be held on Saturday, May 17, at Durham Indoor Bowling Club, Abbey Road, Pity Me. The hospice's retail operations manager, Marcia Leathard, who is organising the event, said: "We have a huge collection of antiques and curios, including china, jewellery, linen, glassware, clocks, brass and Coronation and anniversary memorabilia." Doors will open at noon for viewing and the auction will start at 1pm.Admission will cost 50p and refreshments will be available.

CARAVAN TAKEN: Thieves have stolen a caravan and awning from the Hobson Industrial Estate, Burnopfield, near Stanley. The Elldis Vogue 616 special edition caravan was taken between March 9 and March 14. Anyone with information is asked to call police on (01207) 232144.
