Wolviston are now only four points adrift of leaders Stokesley SC with a game in hand following their demolition of Barnard Castle Glaxo at Metcalf Park.

After establishing a two-goal interval lead with early strikes from John Patterson and David Dowd, the goals flowed during a frenetic second period. Guy Whatmore bagged a brace, Dowd took his tally to two and both Andy Steele and Kieron White also penetrated the visitors' defence to secure a crucial 7-1 victory. Stewart Mowbray hit a consolation for Glaxo.

Stokesley SC salvaged a draw in their home game with Windscale who led for a long period through Lee Dixon. There were just a couple of minutes remaining when Craig Johnson grabbed the equaliser which was sufficient to keep Stokesley in pole position, but only on goal difference from Boldon CA.

The South Tynesiders are outsiders as they now have just four fixtures to fulfil after defeating rivals Cleadon SC courtesy of goals from Lee Seff and Mark Williams.

Birtley Town failed to make it four consecutive victories when they were held to a draw by Ryhope CW. Andrew Place opened for Ryhope on 23 minutes and after Carl Pennington's equaliser, the Wearsiders went in ahead as Paul Hamilton scored on the stroke of half-time.

It looked as if Ryhope might pull off a shock victory but an own goal from Mark McGinley 13 minutes from the end earned Birtley a vital point as they press for the title.

Stanley United, fielding a stronger line-up from the one which was heavily defeated in their previous game, were involved in a six-goal thriller with Darlington RA.

It took a penalty from Alan Lamb - his second of the match - to gain Stanley a 3-3 draw. Aaron Scott was their other marksman and for RA, who have lost just once in 18 games, Stephen Roberts, Stephen Johnson and Stephen Sinclair found the target.

A hat-trick by David Hopper was the feature of Harton and Westoe's victory at Redcar Town while Ferryhill went down 5-1 visiting Whitehaven for whom Malcolm Holliday (2), Jonathan Wright (2) and Ryan Woods found the net. Stewart Cottam replied for Athletic.

After going 19 games without tasting victory, Jarrow have now won their last five. New Marske were their latest victims, Graeme Booth bagged a brace of goals for the Seasiders but goals from Mark Lally, Stephen Dunn and David Newton again had Jarrow celebrating.
