TICKETS for a forthcoming charity fashion show are selling so well that organisers are considering hiring a marquee.

Supporters of Macmillan Cancer Relief's County Durham Appeal say they are delighted by the response.

More than 80 tickets have been sold and the organisers are considering moving the April 24 event under canvas if the demand continues to grow.

The ticket-only spring fashion show at Shotley Hall promises to be a glittering event, with BBC Look North presenter Carol Malia, performing the opening ceremony.

Every pound raised will take Macmillan closer to the £600,000 needed to transform care for the people of County Durham.

Macmillan wants to increase the number of specialist community nurses and provide County Durham with its own palliative care consultant.

Event organiser Dottie Benson, from Lanchester, County Durham, said: "It seems to have really taken off."

She has asked a friend, former model Belinda Alexander, to play a leading role organising the event.

Ms Alexander is a personal stylist for shoppers at Barkers department store in Northallerton. Models will be wearing clothes and accessories by Fenwick of Newcastle, The House at Yarm, Get Ahead hats and jewellery by Marguerite Todd.

Tickets, which include a buffet lunch and a glass of wine, cost £36.

They are available by sending a stamped, addressed envelope containing a cheque made payable to the Macmillan Durham Appeal, to Macmillan Durham Appeal, 1 Frederick Street South, Meadowfield, Durham, DH7 8LZ.
