Darlington Mount Pleasant Rangers: The Under-12s A team, sponsored by Weathertight Windows, played away in the challenge cup against TIBS FC and came up against a strong team playing the long ball.

It was a close game with Rangers pushing on but they could only hold a 1-1 draw at full time. Extra time saw the same score line which forced a penalty shoot out which Rangers won 4-3 on. The Rangers scorer was Sean Lowe and man of the match was Bicky Purewell.

The Under-11s A side, sponsored by MKM (Darlington), played host to Stockton West End, who came to Rangers to try and end their excellent home record. But it was all Rangers as they took the lead within five minutes and from then on they piled on the pressure and passed the ball with accuracy. The final score ended 6-1 to Rangers, who remain top of the league. Rangers scorers were Johnny 'Bravo' Blewitt (2), Joe Clare (2), Mike Gillender and man of the match Craig Swainston who the whole team welcomed back after his spell at Middlesbrough FC.

The Under-8s, sponsored by Dutton Forshaw (Stockton), played away in the league against Brinkburn who played to win all three points. Rangers gave as good as they got but could only find the net once. Final score was 5-1 to Brinkburn with man of the match, Jim Wilson, bagging the only Rangers goal.

A friendly that followed saw Rangers the stronger team winning and winning convincingly 2-0. Rangers scorers were Danny Turnbull and Lee Hastie.

Darlington Spraire Lads

The Under-9s entertained Hartburn in the league and came away with a good 5-1 victory. Spraire opened the scoring midway through the first half from a bullet header by Matty Plumb. In the second half Spraire stepped up a gear and added a second after Kerry Hedley lobbed the keeper from 35 yards.

Hartburn pulled one back from the penalty spot but Spraire pushed forward to add a further three goals, two from Zac Tervit and one from Danny Stead to make the final score 5-1. In the following friendly Spraire won 3-2 with goals from Zac and two from Sam Liddle.

Darlington Spraire Lads Under-12s won 3-1 against Kader with goals coming from Verity (2) and Anderson who was also named man of the match although the whole team performed well.

Spraire Under-14s were away to Seaton Carew and won 11-1. It was an outstanding team performance in which keeper Musgrave made outstanding penalty save. Goals came from Micheal Ward (5), Craig Lavelle (3), Mathew Davison, Daniel Caddick and man of the match was Richard Sheperdson.

The Under-14 B team put on an excellent display but were unfortunate to bow out of the League Challenge Trophy 3-1 at the hands of Coulby Newham who are from the division above and unbeaten in League competition. Nevertheless, Spraire matched Coulby Newham for endeavour and skill but hesitation in the Spraire defence allowed Coulby Newham to build up a two-goal lead.

Thomas Chandler reduced the arrears before half-time and Spraire pushed for an equaliser in the second half only to get caught on the break. Rob Moore was awarded man of the match for his gutsy performance in midfield.

In the Richmond League, the Under-14s went down 6-0 to a very strong Bedale team. Stuart Pattison was awarded man of the match for his sound defending under pressure.

Spraire Under-15s were away to William Newton and won 2-0. It was 0-0 at half-time at which point Brad Tarren came on and scored within five minutes. Steven Oliver scored the second to give Spraire the three points.

At Under-16 Spaire won 3-2 at home to Teeside Athletic. Spraire took the lead early through Hanson only for Teesside to equalize through a penalty just before half time. Spraire then took the lead with a excellent strike from Ponsford. However, Teesside equalised but Grant gave Spraire the winner and a well-deserved three points.

Darlington 21st Allstars

The Under-9s were away to Premier in the league and came away with a comfortable win. The Allstars passed well, attacked in style and controlled the game resulting in an easy 5-1 victory. Scorers were Bradley Simpson (2), Liam Jarvie, Adam Jackson, Daniel Wheldon and man of the match was Liam Jarvie.

In the friendly, the Allstars continued their goal rush putting eight past the Premier keeper, making the final score a tremendous 8-0 victory. Scorers were Andrew Wilson (3), William Whittaker (2), Michael Sweet, Daniel Wheldon (2) and man of the match was Stephen Husband.

The Under-12 Colts travelled to Coundon and Leeholme in the league and the spectators were not disappointed. This was a good, hard-fought game with end to end football. Liam Clarke had a fantastic game and scored a hat-trick. This was a well-deserved 5-4 victory.

Scorers were Liam Clarke (3), Adam MacDonald, Mark Ellerton and man of the match was Liam Clarke.

The Under-12s were playing catch up again and played on Saturday and Sunday. On Saturday, they were at home to South Bank and found it hard to get going on a difficult pitch. The Allstars persevered and came away with the points and a 1-0 win courtesy of an own goal. Man of the match was James Moohan.

On Sunday they were at home to Cleveland Juniors and this saw a good game with the whole squad playing on form. The game ended in a 2-1 win and was a well-deserved Allstars victory.

Scorers were Wayne Hall and Ian Smurthwaite with Stuart Bunting named man of the match.

The Under-15s re-arranged an away fixture and took on Billingham Town at home. The was an excellent team performance in an equally matched game. The Allstars shared the points, forcing Billingham into a 2-2 draw. Scorers were Darryl Roberts and Daniel Hewitson with Stevie Richards named man of the match.

The Under-16s were away in the league to Billingham Symphonia and after a mixture of missed chances and a fantastic display by the Billingham keeper, the game ended in a 3-0 defeat with John Stephens named man of the match.

The Under-11s were in a top of the league clash against Nunthorpe at home. The Allstars started brightly and were1-0 up at half time. Nunthorpe came out very strong in the second half and camped in the Allstars half. This resulted in Nunthorpe scoring two and the result a 2-1 defeat. Lee Gibbon converted a penalty.

The Under-17s played at home against Coulby Newham in the league. The Allstars never settled and found it hard to get it together and Coulby finished strongly resulting in a 5-0 defeat. Man of the match was Lee Harding.

The Under-15 Colts were hosts to South Park Rangers in the league. The Allstars gave their all against this strong South Park team, battling hard to contain the pressure. Although the Allstars suffered a 6-1 defeat, the whole squad never gave up and showed an excellent team spirit. The scorer was Adam Yeadon and Marc Tills was named man of the match.

The Under-14s were away to Hartlepool St. Francis in the league starting brightly, Nick Fox opening the scoring with a tremendous lob over Pool's keeper. The conditions were frustrating and the hard pitch did not allow the Allstars to play their normal game. Hartlepool came back into the game equalising in the first half. Hartlepool fought hard and managed to take the lead and the game ended in a 2-1 defeat for the Allstars. Jonathon Dunn was man of the match.

Auckland and District EBAC Youth League

Bishop Auckland under-18s won 5-2 at home to Barnard Castle juniors in the semi finals of the Auckland and District EBAC Youth League Cup.

Darryl Hall (2), Michael Searby and Lee Atkinson (2) were on target for Bishops with Gary Thexton man of the match. James Harwood and Jonathan Kellett scored for Barney. Bishops will now meet Coundon & Leeholme in the final.

In the league, Willington won 1-0 away to Newton Aycliffe, a goal from John Richardson settling a close-fought game.

Bishop Auckland College

Bishop Auckland College Under-17s played second-placed Cleadon on Sunday. Bishop got off to a great start when awarded a free-kick just inside the Cleadon half which Matthew Gallimore put into the top left-hand corner.

Cleadon equalised on the half-hour but Simon Quinn quickly got a second for the College just before the break.

College held on to their lead to earn a well-deserved 2-1 win.
