Tyne Tees Girls Youth League - Under-12s Presidents Trophy semi-finals: Blyth Town 1 v 0 Middlesbrough FITC: This semi-final was between two good footballing teams, with the home side being slightly more on top, but they found it hard to get past Middlesbrough's keeper. The only goal of the game came from Rebecca McGinley. Blyths Beth Dixon had a great game and was awarded player of the match for the home team. Player of the match for Middlesbrough was Ashleigh Trainer who had a great game in goal.

Under-12s League

Low Fell 1 v 2 Wardley Wrens

Low Fell started the game very strongly and missed a number of good chances before Charlotte Walton put them 1-0 up. Wardley dominated the game in the second half and equalised from the penalty spot before securing all three points with a winner two minutes from time. Goal scorers for Wardley were Emmy Campbell and player of the match Victoria Hart. Low Fell's player of the match was Charlotte Walton.

Newcastle 3 v 1 Cramlington

The first half was very even with both defences well on top. As the second half started Newcastle lifted their game and went 3-0 up quickly with goals from Elleanor Moran (2) and Vicky Austin. Cramlington battled to the end and scored a consolation goal through Alisha Howe near the end. Player of the match awards went to Jane Latif and Rebecca Caldow.

Stock. West End 1 v 1 Spraire Lasses

Both teams started equally strong but it was the home team that took the lead half way through the first period after a long throw in was headed into the back of the net by Sara Ellis. Spraire equalized just before the end of the first period with a great shot from Laura Gowling. For the next 3 periods both teams were equaly matched both offensive and defensively and despite both teams having shots on target neither team could convert. A very strong evenly matched game which saw the points shared with the player of the match awards going to Sara Ellis and Laura Gowling.

Seaton Girls 0 v 10 D'ton Simply Lasses

The match was well played by both teams with no goals being scored in the first period of play. Simply Lasses took the game to Seaton in the second period of play by netting five times but credit to Seaton who battled to the end. The third and fourth periods saw Simply net another five goals but despite great efforts from Lauren Spoors and Rebecca Mee Seaton just could not find the back of the net. Simply's goals were scored by Lisa Kelly (6), Sophie Dowson (3) and one for Kerry Denham. Player of the match awards went to Jessica Coates for Seaton and Kellie Cox for Simply.

Under-13s

Lumley 0 v 5 North Shields

A good performance from North Shields which saw them secure their first points of the season. North Shields took advantage of some indifferent goalkeeping and a strong wind to build up a 3-0 lead by the end of the first period of play and held this until half time. A further two goals in the third period of play secured the score and maximum points for the visitors. Lumley created several chances but were unable to convert any. Goals were scored by Clare Laggan (2), Natalie Powazinski and two for player of the match Rachel Young. Rachel Kirkup was Lumley's player of the match.

Under-14s

Catterick Girls 2 v 2 St. Francis

Although St. Francis could only field eight players this was a very even and entertaining game. The visitors started the better taking the lead early in the game but Catterick then got on top with an equaliser from Louise McCaffrey, and then they took the lead just before half time with a goal from Tamara Smith. The home side continued to push forward in the second half however they could not break down a determined St. Francis side. As the game wore on the visitors created a number of chances which resulted in a late equaliser from Sophie Taylor who scored both goals for the visitors. Player of the match awards went to Louise McCaffrey for Catterick and Rebecca Smith for St. Francis.

Lumley 0 v 7 Blyth

A good victory for the strong Blyth Town team who despite the improvement shown by Lumley were always in control. Blyth had a lead of 3-0 at half time and went on to a comfortable success helped in part to injuries to the Lumley squad. Goals were scored by Carolann Hughes (2) and one each for Steph Bannon, Helen McManus, Rachel Lee, Jessica Havelock and player of the match Amanda Turnbull. Lumley owe a lot to their brave keeper Chloe Bailey who was awarded player of the match.

Under-18s

Lumley 2 v 2 Newcastle

Another great game between these two well matched and entertaining teams saw a goalless first half with few clear cut chances. Lumley broke the deadlockwith a fine captain's goal by Louise Winter but two goals by Newcastle through Amanda Ross and Lauren Weedy saw the game going into injury time. From a free-kick on the right saw Lumleys top scores Sarah Price send it swerving into the net having deceived the defence and just beating the keeper. A draw being a fair result saw the player of the match awards going to Rachel Coleman who had a great game in defence for the visitors and for the home side the award went to Katy Park.

Chester-le-Street

Though this was an end of season Women's Northern League Division One fixture with no bearing on promotion or relegation, both Chester-le-Street and Marton competed fiercely, especially as there has always been strong rivalry between these sides and this was no exception.

The first half was littered with chances; Rachel Furness, Vikki Ryder, Rachel Weightman and Rae Taylor all came close before Natalie Gutteridge capitalised on a poor goal kick to give the Cestrians a half-time lead.

The opening five minutes of the second half changed the game with Marton twice punishing slack defensive work to lead the game through Katie Sutton and Becky Angus. Chester piled the pressure on with Furness, Weightman, Ryder, Taylor and Gutteridge all going close, but Marton held on and took the points.

Darlington Spraire Lasses

Stockton West End held Spraire Lasses Under-12s to a 1-1 draw in an end to end thriller.

Stockton opened the scoring in the second minute with the ball bouncing over the line beyond keeper Katie McTague's reach with Stockton's player of the match Sara Ellis being awarded the goal after her throw-in glanced off the back of a Spraire players head.

Spraire came close to equalising when captain Jordan Atkinson played a neat through-ball to Spraire's player of the match Laura Gowling only to see the ball hit the side netting.

Spraire got their equaliser in the 12th minute when Laura Gowling rattled a half volley from just beyond the penalty area. Stockton came close to taking the lead again just before the first break with the ball hitting the crossbar.

Stockton piled on the pressure in the second quarter creating some excellent opportunities only to be denied by Helen McTague, Tanya Shires and Laura Spence in defence.

Katie McTague had to pull off three excellent saves before Jordan Atkinson just shot wide at the other end following a strong run by Lauren Claxton through midfield. Spraire needing a win to keep their hopes of second league position alive gained confidence in the final 15 putting the Stockton defence under heavy pressure, Joanna Dinsdale put a great ball through to Keely Edwards inside the box but was denied by a great clearance by the Stockton defence.

South Durham Royals

Royals entertained Boldon and were prepared for a tough battle. Both sides competed fiercely for every ball and showed grit spirit throughout. The second quarter saw Rebecca Pattinson go past the last Boldon defender and with the keeper to beat just edged it to the wrong side of the post and minutes later at the other end Steph Hartley pulled off a tremendous save from a Boldon strike.

Vicky Wray had several attempts going past the Boldon defence and laying off some good passes. Helen Morrison and Rebecca Toppin worked relentlessly up and down the pitch supporting attack and defence.

Fiona Cantwell came on for Royals and worked well up front. After some pressure from Royals in the Boldon box a goalmouth scramble resulted in Royals scoring through a Boldon deflection.

Royals maintained the lead through some excellent defence work from Alex Saunders and Jade White. Boldon never gave up and pressured Royals throughout.

A spirited victory for Royals who go through to the final in May.

Players of the match for Royals were Alex Saunders and Boldon's was Sophie Williams.

South Durham Royals Ladies travelled to Crook to play Billingham and they started well and created several chances, but the Billingham keeper was quickly off her line to make some good saves.

In the 20th minute Kim O'Connor was rewarded for tenacity after breaking into the box and collecting the ball before the keeper to knock it over the line to make it one up for Royals.

Billingham gave more pressure in the second half resulting in scoring a goal past Sarah McDonald, the Royals keeper who had a tremendous game to take player of the match for Royals.
