Willington Boys

THE Under-10s lost one and won one of their short-sided double header in the Russell Foster junior league last weekend, losing 2-0 to East Boldon Warriors before beating City of Durham Mosquitos by the same score.

Matthew Cooper and Matthew Proud got the goals to swat the Mosquitos, Proud man of the match in both games.

The Willington Under-14s lost 5-0 at home to Barnes Youth in their 11-a-side encounter with Craig Alston man of the match.

Bishop Auckland College

Bishop Auckland College Under-17s played second-placed Cleadon on Sunday. Bishop got off to a great start when awarded a free-kick just inside the Cleadon half which Matthew Gallimore put into the top left-hand corner.

Cleadon equalised on the half-hour but Simon Quinn quickly got a second for the College just before the break.

College held on to their lead to earn a well-deserved 2-1 win.

Coxhoe Boys

Ifront of a large crowd at their latest match to be staged at Willington's ground, Coxhoe's Under-14s beat Felling Magpies to make it through to the semi-finals of the Invitation Cup.

In an excellent team display Michael Owen grabbed half of Coxhoe's goals with Nathan Ward and Jamie Lawson also on the scoresheet in the game which was played last Friday.

Two days later Coxhoe put on a below par performance but still managed to snatch the three points from Hilda Park. Coxhoe won 3-1 with Michael Owen scoring all three goals.

They are now unbeaten and have now lost just two games all season, both of them being Cup ties.

Last night table-topping Coxhoe faced a crunch clash when they took on third-placed Newton Hall.
