A DRIVER tried to entice an eight-year-old boy into his car as the child left his village school, police said yesterday.
The man was outside Burnopfield Primary School, near Stanley, County Durham, as the pupils left for home at about 3.15pm on Thursday.
He told the boy to get into his car, but the child refused.
The man was described as white, in his 30s, with dark, short hair and a goatee beard. He had a chubby face and spoke with a local accent.
He was driving a silver car, possibly a Citroen Xara, with dark windows, a spoiler and spoke wheels.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Stanley police station, on (01207) 232144.
