NEWCASTLE football fans in Chester-le-Street will now have their own supporters' club.

Graham Thorp has set up a black and white fan club at St Cuthbert's Club, in Lumley Terrace, Chester-le-Street. The club will have a season ticket in its name that people can enter a prize draw for, and it will organise buses to and from games. To join, call Mr Thorp on 0191-389 0625.

BIKE FOUND: Police have recovered an off-road bike and tools that could be used for shed burglaries. Residents in Windermere Terrace, South Moor, near Stanley, called the police after spotting a man acting suspiciously near their garages. Officers challenged the man and he ran off towards the allotments. The officers found the bike nearby, along with a hacksaw, screwdriver and an adjustable wrench. The suspect was white, aged about 19, 5'10in, and was wearing a dark jacket and trousers, and a white baseball cap. Anyone with information is asked to call police on (01207) 232144.

ART SHOW: Castleside Arts Club will hold its 37th annual Easter exhibition in Castleside Village Hall on Sunday, April 20, and Monday, April 21, from 10am to 5pm. There will be more than 300 paintings on display, by 18 local artists. Admission is 20p.
