Mowden Park Under-14s were playing against Middlesbrough and in the early minutes of the game Middlesbrough looked to be the stronger side and they took the lead with a try down the left wing ten minutes into the game.

This gave the Mowden team a wake up call and they soon responded with James Wattmore collecting the ball from a free kick to level the score with the first of Mowden's tries a few minutes later. This paved the way to a further two tries by Mowden's captain Luke Edwards and by Adam Gardner, one of which was converted, before Middlesbrough found form again to go over for a second try just before half time.

The second half was all Mowden as a series of passes from one side of the pitch to the other saw Andy Robinson touch down for Mowden's fourth try, and then some good defence work by Jamie Whitfield and Adam Gardner denied Middlesbrough after they crossed the try line, when Jamie held up the player preventing the touch down, and Adam bundled the player and ball back across the line before gaining control of the ball and taking it back down the field to score a fifth try for Mowden.

The final seconds of the game saw Sam Clark score the last try for Mowden and take the final score to Mowden Park 32, Middlesbrough 10.

Mowden Under-13s were at home to Vale of Lune and this return tour fixture lived up to the expectations of the first game with some top quality rugby from both sides.

Vale set the pace after five minutes when from a line out on Mowden's 22, they went through to score in the corner, conversion missed. Mowden responded with a break by new recruit Joe Kipling down the middle the ball going loose. Daniel Wilson kicked on to score and then dropping short his conversion. Mowden took control for the rest of the half and from their scrum there was clean ball to James Park who ran on to score, Daniel Wilson converting from the kick off.

Mowden put together their best move of the season when the forwards secured ball Steven White releasing James Park down the left, sucking in his opposite number before passing to Chris Emmerson who then released Steven Jackson to score, Daniel Wilson converting.

In the second half Vale took advantage of Mowden's weekend pack to score three tries by their forwards, converting one. This put Mowden on the backfoot until James Park broke from the 22 to run on and score, Daniel Wilson converting.

Unfortunately for Mowden time ran out on a terrific game of rugby watched by a large crowd. Final score was 27-26 to the Vale of Lune.
