AN amateur golf tournament tees off in Stockton later this month with the chance for the winning team to play in Vilamoura, in Portugal.
The Bass Ale Golfing Pub of the Year tournament will take place at Eaglescliffe Golf Club, Yarm Road, Eaglescliffe, on Thursday, April 24.
The first round area heat will see ten from the starting line up of about 30 teams, including the Crathorne Arms, in Crathorne, and the Layfield Arms, in Yarm, progress to the area final.
From there, only the top three teams will go through to the regional final, competing for the title of northern champions and the chance to play in the national final in Vilamoura in June.
Graeme Mitchell, from Bass, said: "Last year's Eaglescliffe heat was an extremely competitive affair with plenty of 18th-hole drama. This year we fully expect an even more highly charged atmosphere with a large number of new teams all fancying their chances of a Vilamoura victory in June.
