A FORMER member of staff at a school, who stepped down at the end of last month after 25 years' service, will return tomorrow.

Alma Kilgour, who retired as a supervisory assistant will return to judge Shotley Bridge Junior School's Easter egg competition.

The school is also celebrating after receiving a glowing Ofsted report.

Inspectors praised the school for providing a happy, caring environment for all its pupils.

The report says pupils behave well, form warm, sincere relationships and try hard with their work.

The youngsters are achieving above-average academic standards and results in English and mathematics, and well above average in science. Eighty per cent of lessons were said to be good or very good, with all lessons being within the satisfactory category.

Inspectors said the school has been well-led through change, and that money is used effectively.

Headteacher Anne Munro said: "Everyone has played an important part in showing the inspectors just how good our school is."
