LAST POST: The post office, run by Bob and Glenna Douglas in Front Street, Frosterley, for ten years, closes today.

Services will be switched to an office in the Stanhope and Weardale Co-operative Store.

STEPPING OUT: A painting by Chris Mouncey of Stanhope Silver Band members crossing the Wear on the stepping stones at Stanhope will form the centrepiece of an art exhibition later this month. Nearly 150 entries in an art competition organised by the band will be displayed at Stanhope Town Hall on Saturday, April 26, from 10.30am to 4.30pm. project will also be on show.

CHARITY NIGHT: A Bad Taste of the Seventies night is being staged at Wolsingham Working Men's Club on May 2, at 7.30pm, in aid of Weardale Community Hospital. Tickets from the club or Anita Savoury on (01388) 527594.
