A MAN faces a substantial jail sentence after taking part in a street stabbing.
Shaun Lewis, admitted being one of a gang of four who attacked Darren Armstrong in Jarrow, South Tyneside, in November.
The 22-year-old pleaded guilty to unlawful wounding on the basis that although he took part in the attack, he did not use any bladed weapon.
Lewis initially faced a charge of wounding with intent, but the prosecution at Newcastle Crown Court accepted his guilty plea to the lesser charge.
Sentence was adjourned until June 13 when evidence will be heard to determine Lewis' role in the attack.
Lewis, of Abbey Drive, Jarrow, was remanded in custody.
