IT travelled at little more than a snail's pace, cumbersomely winding its way through the moors before tentatively venturing on to the Great North Road.
Chances are that the odd motorist also took exception as the awe-inspiring mass lurched slowly towards its ultimate destination.
But for railway enthusiasts in Darlington, this was a sight they had been longing to see - Blue Peter was finally on its way. Last night the strange convoy was winding its way up the A1 heading for its final resting place at Darlington's North Road Railway Museum.
