POLICE have praised school bus operators in the York area following spot checks carried out on their vehicles.
None of the three buses at Fulford School nor the seven at Barlby had any defects.
A faulty emergency door was found on one coach outside Sherburn High School, while among 15 vehicles at Tadcaster Grammar one had an insecure window.
Two buses were ordered off the road outside Huntington School, one with a defective tyre and the other with faulty suspension.
However, Sergeant Nigel Atkinson said police were largely pleased with the standard of school transport inspected.
