AYCLIFFE Village residents are being urged to do their bit ahead of a visit by Northumbria in Bloom judges next week.
The village is aiming to make it four wins in a row in the competition.
Judges will be examining the village during a visit next Tuesday.
Local councillor Bill Blenkinsopp said: "The people of the village are looking forward to the judging because it is looking very pretty and tidy.
"But we would ask people to make sure they pick up litter, put out their pots and tubs and generally make sure it looks as good as it can on Tuesday."
Aycliffe Village is hoping for even higher honours this year, because it has been entered as the regional representative in the national Britain in Bloom contest.
