THE family of murdered North-East student Sara Cameron say they cannot get on with their lives while her killer is still at large.

Sara's body was found on April 21, 2000, in a field in North Tyneside. Despite a huge police investigation, her murderer has not been found.

As the third anniversary of her death approaches, Sara's father, Roy Cameron, has made a fresh plea for people to help police.

He said: "'This Easter will be three years since Sara's murder, which may seem a long time, but for me it all stands still - I have very little concept of time these days.

"Sara's friends and family members, though they will never forget her, get on with their lives, as they must.

"But for her mother and myself, this is a life sentence. Neither of us have other children, we will never know the joys of grandchildren."

Mr Cameron is in Newcastle for the Sara Cameron Memorial Fitness Challenge, which takes place tomorrow at the University of Northumbria, where she studied sports management.

On the night she died, Sara caught the last Metro train to Shiremoor, planning to walk the rest of the way to her flat in Earsdon.

Neighbours found her body the next morning, yards away from her front door.

Some of her clothes and belongings were found in the Den, Wellfield.

Mr Cameron said: "Silence and apathy are hiding Sara's killer. Some small item of information could crack this case, put him behind bars and make our streets that much safer.

"There has to be justice for Sara, justice for her mum and dad, there has to be justice for every parent who needs to love and protect their children."

A Northumbria Police spokesman said the investigation into Sara's murder is continuing.
