NOTEPAPER from a North hotel signed by all four Beatles is expected to fetch thousands of pounds at an auction this month.

The hotel notepaper autographed by the Fab Four is expected to raise £3,500 when it goes under the hammer at Christie's in London.

The expected price is high because items with the signatures of all four Beatles - John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr - are very rare.

The paper dates from 1963, the year the band hit the big time, and comes from the Eden Arms Hotel, in Rushyford, County Durham.

The band were performing in Stockton on Friday, November 22, the night US president John F. Kennedy was assassinated, and they stayed at the hotel over the weekend.

It is thought the group signed the notepaper for a member of staff who worked at the hotel at the time.

The hotel's general manager, Helen Angus, said: "The lady concerned was a receptionist when they stayed here, and what happened was she got their autographs and kept them.

"Any records we have of The Beatles staying here have gone, but it is part of the hotel's folklore that they were here."

Other mementoes going under the hammer include a rare original recording of Hey Jude, which is expected to sell for up to £6,000.
