Crook Ladies League

Tow Law Black Horse came very close to completing the season as total giant-killers in the League Knockout but just failed in the deciding double points team game in the final against Crook Queen's Head A at Crook Cricket Club. The Horse had previously beaten Crook Travellers Rest and the Victoria Club in previous rounds even though both had finished well above them in the final table.

The Queen's got away to a good start when Eileen Graham beat Gloria Jones and Margaret Stewart beat Val Fets. The Horse got their first point on the board when Carol Watson beat Dawn Lennon. The Queen's then took another two when Dawn Harrison beat Susan Hind and Dawn West beat Alison Brennan, but the Horse took the final singles when Helen Snowden beat Marion Hesp.

Carol Watson and Val Fets closed the gap with a win in the first doubles over Dawn West and Eileen Graham but Dawn Harrison and Dawn Lennon restored the Queen's to points lead by beating Alison Brennan and Susan Hind. The final doubles went to the Horse when Gloria Jones and Helen Snowdon beat Marion Hesp and Margaret Stewart.

In the deciding team game, the Horse failed to get the necessary double start until they were 250 behind in the 701 match. They scored well when they did get off but not sufficiently highly to overtake the Queen's, who finished as the Horse still needed over 150. This completed a league and cup double for the Queen's Head.
