A WEDDING guest, whose car broke down on the way home, was found to be over the drink drive limit, a court heard yesterday.

Kim Baglay, 45, of Egerton Close, in Stockton, pleaded guilty to drink driving on April 13.

The court heard that police stopped to talk to Baglay at about 2am on the A1M southbound near Darlington where her car had broken down.

She was standing near her car and officers noted that she smelt of alcohol.

She was taken to a police station where she was found to be over the legal drink driving limit.

Graham Hunsley, prosecuting, said Baglay had been at a wedding all day and had planned to get a coach home.

He said Baglay and her husband were offered a room at the hotel where the wedding was held but were unsure whether to accept it.

Mr Hunsley said when Baglay went to the toilet, her husband went to look at the room.

He said: "When she came back her husband was not there. She assumed he had gone off on the coach and she made an erratic decision to get in the car."

He went on to say when a problem developed with the car she pulled on to the hard shoulder and put her hazard lights on and this is what altered the police to her.

Baglay, who needed her car for work, was disqualified from driving for 18 months. She was fined £250 and £50 costs and she agreed to go on the driver rehabilitation scheme.
