A 59-YEAR-OLD man appeared in court yesterday, charged with murder.
Paul Garner, of Acomb, York, appeared before city magistrates after a man died in hospital after suffering serious head wounds outside a city centre pub.
William George Smith, 62, was hurt in the incident late last Friday night and died in Leeds General Infirmary on Tuesday.
Mr Garner was remanded in custody and will appear before magistrates again on Monday.
Mr Smith, of Cemetery Road, York, was injured outside the entrance of Yates's Wine Lodge, in Low Ousegate.
