Spennymoor's automatic promotion hopes are in their own hands when they take on Witton Albion at the Brewery Field today.

After dropping points at Bishop Auckland on Monday, Moors bounced back on Thursday with a comfortable win at Stocksbridge to restore them into second place, two points ahead of Radcliffe Borough.

And while Radcliffe have a tricky game against play-off contenders North Ferriby today, Moors need to make sure with victory over Witton.

Assistant manager Jason Ainsley said: "It's very much in our own hands, and I'd much rather be in our position than the teams behind us.

"If we don't go up automatically, then we don't deserve to go up. Witton will be coming here to win to give themselves a play-off place, so hopefully we can exploit that.

"The lads are really up for the game after the win on Thursday - they want to get the job done and dusted rather than go through the play-offs.

"The team spirit is fantastic. "We also want to go up in front of our own fans for the support they've given us this season."

Moors will choose from a full squad, except for suspended midfielder Stephen Bell.

Bishop Auckland complete their fixtures at Trafford, who were struggling with them at the bottom of the table at Christmas.

Manager Brian Honour said: "Even though we're well away from the bottom, I want us to finish the season well.

"We're eighth off bottom, and I want to stay there."

Keeper John Caffry returns after injury, but midfielder Chris Hughes is missing.
