WALKERS are being invited to take as stroll through some of County Durham's woods.
The Walk in the Woods in May programme, in support of a nationwide Tree Council campaign, starts on Sunday, May 4, with a walk from Bishop Auckland.
Voluntary ranger Ian Gray will lead the five-mile Bellburn Wood and Bishops Park walk. The event is free and starts at 1.30pm from the North Bondgate car park. For details call 0191-383 4087.
On Sunday, May 18, at Stanhope, in Weardale, tree warden Colin Smith will lead a walk through Shittlehope and Stanhope Denes.
The seven-mile walk starts from the Dales Centre, in Stanhope, Weardale, at 10am. Further details are available from Mr Smith on (01388) 526424.
