Families willing to share their homes with students from overseas are being sought across North Yorkshire.

EASTER THANKS: The Bedale branch of the Skipton Building Society held an Easter bonnet competition, which was won by the Leeming Garth Nursing Home and a pupil at Bedale School. The building society would like to thank Chocca, Bedale, and Tesco, at Catterick, for giving the prizes.

SEWER WORKS: The City of York Council is warning motorists of the temporary closure of Kilburn Road, in the city, from its junction with Edgware Road, between 8am on Monday, and 5.30pm on Friday, and again at the same times from Monday, May 5 to Friday, May 9. Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times.

THE CRUCIBLE: The Easingwold Players drama group will present Arthur Miller's powerful drama, The Crucible, at the Galtres Centres, Easingwold, from Wednesday to next Saturday, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £5, £3 for children, and can be bought from Alternates, Chapel Street, the Galtres Centre office or on the door.

ART TALK: Textile artist Sally Greaves-Lord will give a talk at Scarborough Art Gallery today, at 12.30pm. It will complement her exhibition at the gallery, Colour Feel: Paintings and Designs, which features hand-painted silk banners and framed painted textiles created since her move to North Yorkshire. MUSIC FOR ALL: There are still some tickets left for the second of two evenings of Old Time Music Hall, staged by the Richmond Amateur Dramatic Society.
