L-DRIVER Linda Swallow has been given the best reason to get rid of those learner plates - after winning a new car.
For a £2 stake in a staff draw she is now the owner of a Citroen C3.
However, before she can take to the road she has a hurdle to overcome - passing her driving test.
Linda, of Knapton, near York, is a renal dialysis assistant who works for the York Health Services NHS Trust in Easingwold.
With the hope of getting behind the wheel as soon as possible she has already booked her driving test.
Despite the lack of a licence, Linda was delighted when she discovered she had won.
"I could not believe it when I was told," she said. "It was a lovely surprise."
