TWELVE women are getting ready for a walk in the dark that looks like being anything but a casual stroll.
They plan to improve their fitness by power walking 26 miles, starting at midnight.
Led by personal trainer Michelle Leck, the 12, who have called themselves the Fitness First girlies, are joining 15,000 women on the night-time marathon to raise money for Breast Cancer Research.
The event, the only power-walking marathon of its kind, will start at midnight on Saturday, May 10 in London.
Ms Leck, who works for Fitness First York at Clifton Moor, said the team were all women who were getting fit under her guidance.
On the night in question they will be highly visible, wearing bras they have decorated with lights, flowers and ribbons.
"It is a great way of getting fit, losing weight and raising money for a great cause," said Ms Leck, who predicted the team would complete the gruelling event in seven hours.
