POLICE investigating an apparent attack which left a middle-aged man seriously injured renewed their appeal for help yesterday.
The victim was found on the floor of the public lavatory in Church Street, Whitby, on Sunday morning.
He suffered serious injuries and last night doctors at Middlesbrough General Hospital described his condition as serious but stable.
Forensic experts have completed an investigation of the scene and police inquiries suggest there would have been other people in the area around the time.
The victim is thought to have been about 45 and has still not been identified by police. However, they do not believe he is a local man.
Detectives are appealing for anyone who was in the area between midnight on Saturday and 6.30am on Sunday, and who may have information, to contact Whitby CID on (01609) 783131.
