Darlington skipper Craig Liddle is determined to give Feethams a winning send-off this weekend.

Quakers host Leyton Orient on Saturday in the last ever game at DL1 before the club moves to its new 27,500 all-seater in time for next season.

And Liddle is keen to give the club's fans something to shout about as they bring the curtain down on Feethams' 120-year history.

"It's going to be a great occasion for the supporters and hopefully we can put in a decent performance on the pitch," said Liddle.

"It would be nice to say goodbye to Feethams with a win and that's exactly what we'll be trying to do.

"It's going to be an emotional day for some of the lads who have been there for a while.

"Hopefully it will be a day for everybody to enjoy."

And while Quakers will be aiming to give Feethams a farewell to remember, Liddle has warned that Orient will be doing their utmost to play party-poopers for the day.

Liddle was sent off when Quakers won at Hull in the last ever game at Boothferry Park and the 31-year-old has vowed to do all he can to prevent the O's doing the same on Saturday.

"We went down to Hull and spoiled their party so we've got to make sure Leyton Orient don't come up and spoil ours," said Liddle.

"At the end of the day it's up to us.

"If we can perform how we know we can then I'm sure we'll get the three points."

Meanwhile, Hartlepool United boss Mike Newell last night rubbished claims that his newly-promoted side were interested in signing Liddle, who was linked with a switch to their bitter rivals 12 months ago.

Quakers have released midfielder Paul Campbell. The 23-year-old Middlesbrough-born schemer has struggled to hold down a regular place at Feethams and the club has decided not to renew his contract, which expires at the end of the season.

* Kevin Ratcliffe has hit out at locals who have blocked Shrewsbury from finding a new home, claiming some do not want the football club in their town.

The former Everton player resigned as Shrews manager yesterday after seeing his side relegated from the Third Division following Tuesday night's 3-2 defeat to Carlisle.
