It is not too late for people to vote in today's local council elections even if they have not sent their postal ballot forms.

Councils will still accept them today if they are dropped off before deadlines at designated places. In the Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council area, where there is an all-postal vote, it is the reception of Eston Town Hall, Fabian Road, Eston, until 6pm.

VOLUNTEER REWARDED: Amanda Southgate, of Redcar, has been named as the area winner in a competition to find the British Heart Foundation's (BHF) star shop volunteer. Tetley Tea set up the search for the charity. A judge said Amanda was a perfect fit for the title of Tetley Champion because she gave 100 per cent to every task and always had a cheery outlook. Amanda received a £49 voucher to try activities such as sky diving, Formula One motor racing or golf lessons. For details of volunteering opportunities call 0870 120 4141.

WASTE COLLECTION: Hundreds of residents in east Cleveland who missed out on Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council's door-to-door waste paper collection on Easter Monday will have their paper collected on Monday. Recycling officer Anthony Smith said: "The way the calendar collection works the homes that missed out on Easter Monday would have missed out again on this Bank Holiday Monday. We didn't want that to happen so we've organised a special rota."

CRICKET CONCERT: Male vocalist Les Short is booked for Marske Cricket Club on Saturday, from 8pm to 11pm. Tickets cost £2.50 and are available from behind the bar or at the door. Non members welcome when accompanied by a member.
