KIRKLEATHAM Museum at Redcar is hosting a programme of craft activities with a seaside theme for parents and children to learn and discover together.

Run by Redcar and Cleveland Council's Museums and Adult Education Services, there will be activities on three Sundays in May, starting on May 11, in the run up to half-term.

The Museum's education development officer Liz Bates said: "There will be craft activities for all the family - bring Mum and Dad, Gran and Grandpa or Aunty and Uncle...or just Big Bro if he's feeling creative."

The activities are free, with all materials provided, but children must be accompanied by an adult. The sessions are 10am-noon and 1pm to 3pm. Space is limited so contact museum staff to reserve a place and find out more.

The first two Sundays, May 11 and 18, will be paper making. First, people will be able to try their hand at making sheets of paper from recycled pulp, then the following week participants can turn their paper into a seaside card.

On Sunday, May, 25, people can find out about decoupage techniques and turn a plain pot into a work of seaside art.

Details of more Family Learning and craft activities over half-term will be issued later. To reserve a place call Kirkleatham Museum on (01642) 479500.
