Seven employees from Northgate plc in Darlington will attempt to climb the three highest peaks in England, Wales and Scotland in just 24 hours, all in aid of charity.
The Vanco Three Peaks Challenge will raise money for CARE International, an independent humanitarian organisation working to end poverty.
The challenge is specifically for teams involved in IT.
Geoff Wallace, IT manager for Northgate, is leading his team. He said: "We have just 24 hours to climb Ben Nevis, Scafell Pike and Snowdon. A back-up team consisting of at least two drivers will transport us between the mountains as well as supplying us with food, water and encouragement."
The event takes place, conditions permitting, on the Saturday and Sunday, July 19 and 20.
