THE body of a man found lying in an alleyway off Scarborough's Foreshore Road on Sunday was yesterday named as 46-year-old Angus Haughton, who lived in nearby Eastborough.

A post-mortem examination was held earlier this week, and his death is not thought to be suspicious.

MATCH WARNING: Northumbria Police are warning of major delays on the A1 and A696 on Sunday as more than 7,000 rugby fans travel to watch Newcastle Falcons. The team will be taking on the Saracens in the last game of the season, at Kingston Park. Congestion will be made worse by roadworks at nearby Kenton Bank Foot. Police have warned fans that parking in nearby residential streets will not be tolerated and said they will take a firm stance with those who breach parking restrictions. People can park either in the ground, at Kingston Park Primary School, or use the park and ride schemes at Newcastle Airport and the Belvedere Retail Park.

FUNERAL PLANNED: The funeral of a popular headmistress will be held next week. Helen Hamilton, a former headteacher at Polam Hall School, in Darlington, lost her 14-year-battle against cancer on Sunday. Her funeral will be held next Friday at 2pm, at Yarm Parish Church. YOUTH ARRESTED: Detectives investigating an airgun shooting in which a three-year-old girl was injured yesterday arrested a 17-year-old. The girl was hit in the shoulder by an airgun pellet and knocked to the ground, at 1.15pm on Tuesday, as she was walking along a footpath in Dudley, North Tyneside, with her mother. She was distressed by the attack but otherwise suffered no serious injuries.

RIVER DRAMA: Three children were taken to hospital in Harrogate after their boat capsized on the River Nidd near Conygham Hall, in Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. They are not thought to have suffered serious injuries.
