A DIY store is proving a popular attraction for a fearless bird.

Staff at the B&Q store, in Northallerton, arrive for work each day to be greeted by a cheeky robin which has made its home there.

The bird is nesting among the plants and shrubs on sale in the gardening section and is happily raising a hungry brood of four chicks.

And every day as the shutters go up it flies inside the store to spend most of the day watching the customers go by from its favourite perch - by the bird-care products. "We like to think it is a very friendly bird in a very friendly store," said operations manager Nicola Cook yesterday.

"It started coming to the store about six weeks ago and its quickly become a firm favourite with everybody here.

"Some customers thought it was a fake bird when they saw it sitting by the bird-care section, but they changed their mind when they saw it move,

"But everybody thinks its very sweet, and we're going to miss her when she has raised her young and gone."
