HARTLEPOOL United talisman Gordon Watson last night hinted tomorrow's championship showdown could be his last game for the club, writes Nick Loughlin.

The striker, who has missed most of this season after suffering a broken leg in September, was back in the starting line up for last Saturday's win over Shrewsbury.

And while he looks set to keep his place at Rushden tomorrow, where Pool must win to be crowned champions, he admitted: "I've not been offered a new contract yet.

"But I think talks will take place after the weekend. There's a lot of factors to look at because I am playing football so far away from home.''

The former Premership hit-man trains with Southampton in the early part of the week before flying north and admitted: "I've a wife and two kids and being away from them for so long is really, really difficult.

"It's not just a football decision, there's other options to weigh up as well.

"There's a lot been happining at the club recently and I've not been banging on the door because my injury means it not warranted.

"I'm quite happy with what is going on right now, but we will sit down in the summer and look at things.''

Fans' favourite Watson has been limited to just 11 starts this season, but was back in the starting line up last week and is likely to spearhead Pool's forward line tomorrow with leading scorer Eifion Williams.
