A CYCLING club for young people with disabilities has been presented with two new sets of wheels.
The Gateway Wheelers provides specialist cycles and equipment for young people with disabilities and organises regular rides from Chester-le-Street and Tees Valley for the young people and their families.
Brian Milner of Chester-le-Street, secretary of the Wheelers, is a postman. He was given the £4,200 grant which paid for a specialist bike and go-kart by the Royal Mail Sports Foundation.
He said: "It is absolutely tremendous to be given this grant.
"It has enabled us to purchase a specialist cycle with a built in electric motor, which means those children who cannot cycle for long can still enjoy a substantial cycle ride."
The Royal Mail Sports Foundation officially presented the vehicles at a special ceremony at the Riverside Sports Pavilion, Riverside South, Chester-le-Street.
