PEOPLE are being given the chance to delve into the history of their community with the help of the latest technology.

The Grindon People and Places project is running as part of Adult Learners' Week, from next Saturday to Saturday, May 17, at Gates Electronic Village Hall, in Gleneagles Road, Grindon, near Sunderland.

Taster sessions in photography and digital imaging will be held and people living in Grindon and the surrounding area will have the chance to take photographs.

These will be exhibited with past and present images of the village.

There will also be talks on local history and photography, and practical workshops on how to restore photographs.

An exhibition of residents' work will be held on the last two days of the event.

People are asked to take their old photographs, stories or other memories as soon as possible, so the exhibition can be planned around them.
