A SANCTUARY for owls has welcomed two arrivals.

Kirkleatham Owl Centre, near Redcar, has taken in a host of animals, which were all mistreated or unwanted by their owners in the past.

Now one of them, a goat named Hope, has given birth to two kids.

Hope was picked up by centre director Gill Whalley after she was left injured when attacked by a dog.

She said: "We now have two Shetland ponies, two sheep, a lamb and now goats, including the two new arrivals.

"Hope went through so much in the past and was in a really bad way. It took some time for her to gain our trust, but her progress has been brilliant.
