A POPULAR cartoon character was making mischief at a Darlington shopping centre yesterday.
Bart Simpson, the cheeky star of American cartoon sitcom The Simpsons, mingled with shoppers at the Cornmill Centre. He had been invited as guest of honour as part of the arcade's May Day Bank Holiday celebrations.
The wayward schoolboy ran around the centre pretending to steal children's ice creams and hugging startled mothers and fathers.
A spokeswoman for the centre said: " He went down really well and the kids absolutely loved him."
