A NEW shopping outlet centre celebrated a bumper bank holiday weekend.

Dalton Park, at Murton, east Durham, attracted 12,000 cars between Saturday and yesterday.

Following reports of five-mile tailbacks on the A19 at Easter, bosses said they have got to grips with the traffic.

"We had no major problems on the A19, with only minor delays," said marketing manager Tracey Harper.

Although still to work out the weekend's sales figures, she said she was happy with how things had gone.

The outlet centre, on the former Murton Colliery spoil heap, sells designer clothes, accessories and household items at discounted prices.
