CHESTER-le-Street Leisure Centre is one of the top 100 UK pools in the Sharron Davies Mile Swim Challenge.
The council-run leisure centre and pool is among the 100 with the highest number of participants registered to swim in the event.
The swim challenge will take place between Sunday and May 25. Those taking part must swim a mile individually or as part of a team over that time. The challenge is open to swimmers of all ages and abilities and aims to encourage people find out how regular swimming can help health and fitness. It will also raise money for ChildLine.
The top individual fundraiser will win a week's holiday for two in Mallorca.
