NINE people wanted in connection with the pitch invasions during England's football clash with Turkey in Sunderland have come forward.

Northumbria Police and the Football Association came together on Wednesday to launch a hunt for 29 fans who ran on to the pitch after England's goals in the 2-0 win on April 2. Three were arrested on Thursday, including one from the North-East.

Officers yesterday said a further nine had identified themselves and would be arrested shortly. Tip-offs had also led to the identification of 12 more.

The crackdown follows warnings from UEFA that England could be thrown out of European competitions if English fans misbehave again.
