A DEVELOPER is hoping to help build a future for a child suffering from a rare disease.
Seven-year-old Devon Barnes suffers from the rare Cornelia de Lange Syndrome, which includes difficulties in learning and restricted growth and affects one in every 50,000 babies born.
Keith Ayre, commercial manager at George Wimpey, heard of Devon's problems following a fundraising event at the Synthonia Club, in her home town of Billingham.
The result was that the firm has presented Devon's parents Craig and Denise with a cheque for £1,000.
The money will go towards buying mobility equipment and educational play equipment.
Mr Ayre said: "Devon is a lovely little girl and we wanted to be able to show our support"
Devon's father said: "It's fantastic to get such support and we are grateful to George Wimpey for this much-needed donation.
"As Devon gets older, her needs will become more demanding and will require constant care and attention.''
