The following cases were heard by South Durham magistrates sitting in Darlington yesterday:

ASSAULT ALLEGED: A case against a woman accused of assaulting two children was adjourned until June 10. Carol Brown, 58, of Durham Road, Darlington, was not present at the hearing but was granted unconditional bail.

DRIVING BAN: Karamjit Singh, 24, of Salisbury Place, Middleton St George, near Darlington, was banned from driving for two years and fined £300 with £55 costs for drink-driving.

OFFENCE DISCHARGED: A charge of harassment against Vance Currie, 32, of Brinkburn Drive, Darlington, was discharged by the Crown Prosecution Service.

THEFT CHARGE: Anthony Price, 24, of Eldon Street, Darlington, pleaded guilty to stealing a baby gym from Harrowgate Hill post office on April 7 with a female companion. The case was adjourned to June 16 at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates' Court and he was granted unconditional bail.

CASE ADJOURNED: The case against David Scholes, of South Church Road, Bishop Auckland, was adjourned until June 17. Mr Scholes, 22, is accused of driving dangerously and failing to stop after an accident. He was granted unconditional bail.

AFFRAY ADMITTED: Malcolm McFadden, 20, of Streatlam Road, Darlington, admitted affray and was fined £150 plus £118 costs.

WARRANT ISSUED: A warrant without bail was issued for Rory Eyles, 25, of Berwick Road, Darlington, after he failed to attend court. Mr Eyles is accused of interfering with a car with the intention of stealing it.
