POLICE are appealing for help tracking down a witness to a fatal accident in the region last month.

Gary Neal, a 33-year-old from Hertfordshire, was killed on April 1 when his white Mercedes Sprinter van collided with a lorry and a bridge barrier before overturning.

The accident happened at about 1.30pm on the A1(M) northbound carriageway, junction with A64 at Bramham Crossroads, North Yorkshire.

Traffic officers investigating the incident are trying to trace the driver of a white Transit-size panel van who may have witnessed it.

The van is thought to have had green writing on the back doors and along its sides.

It may also have had an outline of a chair on the back door, with its owner involved in the manufacture, supply or sale of office furniture or executive chairs.

Sergeant Steve Green said: "We would like to hear from anyone who has a van like this to contact us. Has anyone seen this van, or know someone who drives a van like it?

"Does anyone know of any companies that own vans like this? Does your company own vans like this? The driver could have valuable information."

Anyone able to help is asked to contact West Yorkshire Police motorway unit on 0845 6060606.
