A RETIRED solicitor has been found hanged at his home.
An inquest has been opened and adjourned into the death of John Atkinson, 72, who was in practice with Drivers in Market Street, Malton.
Police said Mr Atkinson was found in the garage at his home in Broughton.
He started his career with Pearson and Ward, in Malton, then moved to York, where he joined James Driver's practice, before returning to Malton to run the company's operation there. He retired six years ago.
A keen sportsman, Mr Atkinson was involved with Broughton, Swinton and Amotherby sports centre and was a keen supporter of the local cricket teams.
