Under-18s: Chester-le-Street enjoyed a 69 runs victory over Whitburn when the sides met at Ropery Lane.

John Coxon maintained his early season form scoring 43 and Andrew Smith added 20 to the Cestrians' total of 120 for three.

All three wickets were taken by Andrew Turns for just 27 runs, but when they replied Whitburn could only make 51 for six as James Morrison returned two for 11 from four overs in the home attack.

Eppleton had nine of their wickets remaining when they overtook the Boldon total of 43 for eight. The Lowther brothers were prominent with bat and ball for Eppleton.

When Boldon batted first David captured three wickets for ten runs and Craig Hughes took three for three and when Eppleton replied Michael Lowther carried his bat for 23.

Paul Davison (51no) and David Conway (49no) formed an opening partnership of 110 which was not broken by the Hetton Lyons attack. Although Paul Riddle scored a useful 38, Hetton Lyons could only manage 78 for six when they replied and South Hetton won by a margin of 32 runs.

In contrast Sunderland had only nine runs to spare at Felling despite making 110 for seven which included 31 by Phillips and 25 not out from Akawt.

Leonard, with two for 28 and Connor whose two wickets were taken at a cost of 31 runs, both showed form for Felling.

When they replied Felling went near to matching the Sunderland score before eventually finishing on 101 for five from their 20 overs.

Barnes top scored with 25 not out and for Sunderland Stuart Ferguson captured two of the five wickets to fall for just 14 runs.

Johnny Foster (26) and Mark Lockney (27) led Gateshead Fell to an eight wickets victory at South Shields, who totalled 72 all out. Chris Nicholl took the eye in the Shields batting line-up hitting 33 from only 35 deliveries, while for the Fell Richard Smith had the impressive figures of three for 11.

Marsden just squeezed Philadelphia by a single run. When they made first use of the wicket Marsden ended with 89 for four on the board for which Greg Arundel contributed 48 while for Phili Thomas Raine was in form and his three wickets were taken for 21 runs in four overs. Responding Phili were 88 for seven when stumps were drawn.

Under-15s

Most matches were either cancelled or abandoned because of the weather, but South Hetton did manage to complete their game with neighbours Hetton Lyons.

The Lyons batted first and realised 51 for nine as Ashcroft captured three wickets for 18 runs in the South Hetton attack.

Despite Walker returning three for ten South Hetton won with 52 for five on the board.

Gateshead Fell with 36 for one responded to the South Shields total of 111 for three which included 58 from Adam Baston and 22 by Adam Dowson.

Felling posted a reasonable 100 for four, but still lost by seven wickets to visitors Boldon. Hopper, who recorded five boundaries in 40 and Martin with three fours out of 29 were the match winners with the bat for Boldon.

When Felling made first use of the wicket they were indebted to Stephen Barnes who found the boundary line on three occasions scoring 36 and to Chris Gorge, who struck four fours out of his 30.
