A FASHION student from Stockton is celebrating after winning a £250 prize in a competition inspired by chocolate.

Nicola Brooks, from Fairfield, was joint runner-up in the contest to design an outfit inspired by the new Cadbury Mighty Minis biscuit range with her colourful, skateboarder-style menswear.

Burton's Foods, manufacturers of Cadbury Mighty Minis, joined forces with Nottingham Trent University's School of Art and Design to launch the competition.

The aim was to give second year fashion students, the experience of working to a commercial brief as part of their commerce and innovation module. The brief was to reflect the fun and indulgent image of the new miniature chocolate biscuit snacks.

Six finalists were shortlisted from 96 original designs.

Nicola's outfit was awarded one of two runner- up prizes due to its innovative look and original interpretation.

Lynne Jones, from Burton's Foods, said: "We were overwhelmed by the imagination and skill shown by the students. The outfits created by the six finalists reflected the brief in very different, but effective, ways, and Nicola's design was a very strong contender."

Her design will be on display at an end-of-year fashion show today, in Nottingham, and will also be used for Cadbury Mighty Minis promotions.
