A NURSE struck off for roughly handling a patient failed in her bid to be restored to the nursing register on Friday.
Bongiwe Nogcantsi, 42, of York, was struck off in 2001.
A professional conduct committee found her guilty of misconduct on three allegations in February and March 2001, while working at the Westminster Osbaldwick Nursing Home, York.
Committee chairwoman Valerie Morrison said the committee was not satisfied she should return to work. She said: "Your claims that allegations were exaggerated is not enough.
"You have not provided evidence of your competence, subsequent courses attended, and even if you have attended a course."
Nogcantsi administered unknown tablets, failed to record administrative records, failed to follow instructions for bandaging a patient, and roughly handled a patient while assisting her to the toilet.
The committee heard the patient was petrified after requesting help into her bed.
Nogcantsi told the committee she had learned her lessons and blamed stress for previous errors.
She said: "There was stress because of financial problems and now I would know if a similar situation occurred, I would go to my colleagues.
"I have learned my lessons and done courses to cover administrative and wound bandaging. I have more confidence and a better attitude.
