David Alsop again found form, taking six of the Seasiders' wickets for just 43 runs in 19 overs. And when John Fitzpatrick proved just as economical, returning 4-43 from 19.2 overs, the home side were all out for only 89.

Paul Gough batted throughout Seaton's reply and six boundaries flowed from his bat as he ended unbeaten on 49, leading his side to a seven-wickets win in 33.2 overs.

Wolviston are just ten points adrift of Seaton Carew and they had more than 100 runs to spare in their home game with Marske, who managed only 100 all out in 33 overs.

Martin Jones was the top wicket-taker with 4-25 in 11 overs.

George Sayers claimed 3-16 from the four overs he sent down and Mark O'Neill conceded just 32 runs in 12 overs for three wickets.

In contrast, runs were plentiful when Wolviston batted first and the declaration was applied after 45 overs with the home side 202-3.

John Woolnough was in fine form, striking a couple of sixes and nine boundaries, making 114 and Ian Brooksbank carried his bat for 71 with eight fours.

Billingham Synthonia also won to maintain third position. Martin Cull and Keith Martin were again the architects in the attack as they shared the ten Normanby Hall wickets.

Cull's 19.3 overs-spell earned him six wickets for a mere 27 runs and Martin took 4-50.

The Hall were all out for just 98 after Synners had posted 170-8 from their 50 overs. After conceding a couple of early wickets, the home side recovered through Dave Fairley, whose 85 included a six and six boundaries. For Normanby Hall, none did better than Brian Leech, whose 15 overs yielded 3-42.

Darlington had eight wickets in hand on Stokesley at Feethams.

The modest target of 118 was met from just 29 overs as Danny Morgans dominated the innings, hitting nine fours as he carried his bat for 73.

Although Martin Smith made 55, Stokesley were always struggling for runs and the innings closed after 43.5 overs. Chris Dent, introduced as third-change, quickly made an impact and from 9.5 overs he captured five wickets for a miserly 27 runs. Philip Buxton, who opened the attack, had 4-36 from 14 overs, including the wickets of both openers.

Guisborough were another side to enjoy a comfortable success. They bowled out Bedale for only 129, which looked like being a good deal less until Mark Ellis added 33 towards the end of the innings.

Ryan Murray had six maidens in 15 overs, taking 4-40, and Steve Donlan was equally effective, claiming 4-27 in 9.3 overs.

Guisborough's reply lasted 32 overs, but despite conceding a couple of early wickets were never troubled as Rob Hornbrook batted throughout for an unbeaten 51, which included a six and eight boundaries. Richard Dove also struck eight fours as he contributed 48 not out to the unbroken third-wicket stand.

Dave Wherritt had a long 23-overs stint in the Marton attack, returning 4-79 while Peter Williams had 3-73 from the 20 overs he sent down. Matthew Benfield top-performed with the bat for Marton as he found the boundary line on no fewer than nine occasions adding 46 to his team's total of 150 all out.

Only five runs separated Great Ayton and Middlesbrough at the conclusion of a rain-affected match.

When they batted first, Ayton had Dave Pennock only five runs short of his century when he was dismissed.

Boro made a spirited attempt to overtake the home side's total of 196 all out but when time ran out they had managed only 191 with five of their wickets remaining.
